Info

Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia is a pan-continental celebration of audio-futurists, operating at the bleeding edge of today’s psychedelic renaissance. For two days each September, Liverpool’s former industrial heartland beats once more, to motorik throb and shimmering drone, a kaleidoscopic celebration of our global psychedelic village. The festival was lauded across its first three installments (2012, 2013 and 2014) for its unique take on a thoroughly modern psychedelic condition, with The Guardian declaring “Liverpool, the great psychedelic capital of Europe”.

Liverpool International Festival Of Psychedelia was named the ‘Best Small Festival’ at the 2015 NME Awards.

THE QUIETUS
“A 150 MICROGRAM HIT”

NME
“THE SUCCESS OF LIVERPOOL’S INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF PSYCHEDELIA REPRESENTS A CURRENT NATIONAL INTEREST IN A FORM OF MUSIC THAT’S AMBITIOUS, EXPLORATORY AND INCREASINGLY INTELLIGENT.”

THE FLY
“A WEEKEND OF GLORIOUS MIND-MELTING PSYCHEDELIA”

THE INDEPENDENT
“THIS LIVERPOOL FESTIVAL CELEBRATES THE MORE POTENT FRINGES OF PSYCHEDELIC SUB-CULTURES.”

Liverpool International Festival Of Psychedelia was nominated in the ‘Best UK Festival’ category at the 2014 Fly Awards.

LOCATION

Liverpool Psych Fest is a two-day happening, held over the weekend of 23 + 24 September 2016 within the warehouses and recesses of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle. The festival site contains four performance spaces, housed in complex of warehouses across Camp and Furnace, Blade Factory and District. We are also planning a wide expansion of the PZYK Gallery and Village – which were successfully introduced in 2014 – on Greenland Street and Flint Street, plus the festival’s trademark world of scintillating artist curation from across the PZYK cosmos, DJs, label curations, installations and audiovisual explorations.

+

The festival site is a 10-15 minute walk from the city centre, and is served by buses 103 (nearest stop on Park Lane) and 82 (nearest stop on Great George Street). The main bus station at Liverpool ONE (Paradise Street) is a 15-minute walk away.

Train stations Liverpool Central and Brunswick (on the Northern Line), and Liverpool James Street (on the Wirral Line loop) are all approximately 15-20 minutes walk away.

The easiest way to get to the festival site is by foot or by car/taxi. This year we are teaming up with Uber to offer a free £15 taxi ride to anyone who signs up at uber.com/app over the weekend, using the discount code PZYK. There are also plenty of Hackney cabs operating in Liverpool city centre.

WRISTBAND EXCHANGE

Friday 23 September: wristband exchange will be open from 1pm with the festival site open at 3pm. The festival finishes at 4am.

Saturday 24 September: wristband exchange will be open from 12pm with the festival site open at 1pm. Main festival stages finish at 4am, with after parties open until late.

Wristband Exchange and Box Office will be located on Flint Street, parallel to District (MAP). Leave Jamaica Street via Jordan Street and you will find Wristband Exchange and Box Office at the intersection between Jordan Street and Flint Street. This is the only entrance to the festival site: access will not be granted via Greenland Street or New Bird Street. Access to the festival site will only be granted with an official festival wristband.

There are no camping or parking facilities on site. There are three all-day car parks within five minutes walk of the festival site: at the intersection of Jamaica Street and Blundell Street (limited capacity); on Blundell Street (limited capacity); and at King Park on King’s Dock Street.

Food and drinks concessions, toilets (including wheelchair access toilets) and cloakrooms will all be provided on site. There will be limited opportunities for cashback on site and cards can be used to purchase bar tokens (subject to small transaction charge) – however, for ease we would encourage festival goers to bring cash to the site. Liverpool city centre has all major international banks and hundreds of cash machines.

The four ground floor performance spaces – Furnace, Camp, Blade Factory and District – have wheelchair access. The only space that doesn’t have wheelchair access if the first floor PZYK Gallery in Camp and Furnace.

HEADZ UP

Each of the performance spaces at Liverpool Psych Fest has a fixed capacity. For certain artists these capacities may be reached and a one-in-one-out system introduced. Like at any event with multiple venues, if there are particular artists you’d definitely like to see, please make sure you are in the relevant performance space in plenty of time to avoid disappointment.

Following feedback from previous years, we have introduced a bar token system for this year’s festival. Attendees can purchase tokens at two token points on site and redeem them at any of the bars on site. This will drastically reduce queuing times across all of the bars and will ensure you spend more time enjoying the festival and less time queuing. The token booths are located directly opposite the main entrance on Flint Street, and within the Atrium (between Furnace + Camp venues). Tokens can be purchased with card or cash (card payments subject to small transaction charge).

The Baltic Triangle is something of a cashpoint blackhole and though we will have a cashback point on site and cards can be used to purchase bar tokens (subject to small transaction charge), for ease we would encourage festival goers to bring cash to the site. Liverpool city centre has all major international banks and hundreds of cash machines.
